One of my personal training clients at our Timonium gym was shocked when I told her this ... The case against saturated fat is suprisingly weak. It all started with ONE influential and persuasive nutritionist, Ancel Keys, through a highly flawed study known as the Seven Nations Study. The carefully chosen "seven nations" resulted in a graph that screamed "More fat=More heart attacks." But wait ... A graph from ALL of the for which there was data available showed NO correlation between fat and heart attacks. In fact, Keys was behind another large study called the Minnesota Coronary Experiment that again failed to show a correlation between saturated fat and heart attacks. They were so disappointed in the results that they hid the papers in a basement!
