Exercise mistakes for people over 50 [Part II]

A major web site just asked me to contribute to an article:

"Exercise mistakes for people over 50, why they're dangerous, and what to do about them"

Here are my exact comments [again, this is Part II]:

--------------------------------
Over-exercising
--------------------------------
Recovery after exercise is typically lower as we get older.

Trying to follow the same type of routine you did in your youth can lead to undue soreness, delayed progress, and even injury.

Listen to your body and progress at your own pace regardless of what that generic social media workout is telling you. Resist the temptation to compare your old self to your current self.

--------------------------------
Not stretching (when needed)
--------------------------------
Certain muscles (called "tonic" muscles in the biz) tend to get tight as we age. Your hip flexors, calves, lats (a muscle in your back that moves your arms) are probably tight.

Not stretching tight muscles leads to imbalances where muscles on one side of a joint get shorter and tighter as the opposite muscles get longer and weaker.

Stretching after exercise is a great way to cool down (see above), may help to reduce muscle soreness, and help you feel better in
