Since personal training clients at my Timonium gym are constantly asking me what supplements I take, here's a quick list for you: - Men's Multi (the lack of Iron makes it "Men's") - Vitamins D3+K2 - Ashwaghanda - ZMA (combo of Zinc and Magnesium) - Berberine What's the deal with "Berberine?" Berberine has been scientifically proven to reduce insulin resistance (same as "increase insulin sensitivity," of course), and improve markers of type II diabetes such as fasting glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C). A client at our personal training gym in Timonium just asked me, "What exercises should I be doing to lose my belly fat?" Of course I gave my usual answer: "You have no more control over where you lose fat than you did over where you gained it." Doing endless amounts of crunches and hours worth of planks is not going to burn belly fat. It’s just going to make your belly sore. One of my personal training clients at our Timonium gym was shocked when I told her this ... The case against saturated fat is suprisingly weak. It all started with ONE influential and persuasive nutritionist, Ancel Keys, through a highly flawed study known as the Seven Nations Study. The carefully chosen "seven nations" resulted in a graph that screamed "More fat=More heart attacks." But wait ... A graph from ALL of the for which there was data available showed NO correlation between fat and heart attacks. In fact, Keys was behind another large study called the Minnesota Coronary Experiment that again failed to show a correlation between saturated fat and heart attacks. They were so disappointed in the results that they hid the papers in a basement!
