Forbes asked for my thoughts on "weight loss programs for women."

Here's what I said:

Q) Are there any specific workout plans you would recommend for women who are trying to lose weight?

A) I'm assuming you actually mean "brand name" workouts when you say, "specific workout plans."

Brand name workouts are designed to sell and entertain. Not necessarily to get results.

Marketers know that "New, Different, and Flashy" sells far better than Proven-Yet-Boring.

Besides, women, in particular, have been brainwashed into focusing on working "problem" areas.

The truth is that a workout plan for weight loss should work your full body and should focus on compound movements.

A Calorie is a unit of Mechanical Work.

You maximize the amount of Mechanical Work (thus total calories burned) by using:
lots of muscles per exercise
lots of your larger muscles, and
lots of muscle fibers in each muscle
with challenging weights.

That's exactly what my 3-4-5 Total Body Fitness Program is designed to do.

And that's why it's been featured in Women's Health, Shape, Fitness, Runner's World, and even Woman's Day.

Isolation exercises like crunches, hip abductions, and triceps kickbacks (ugh!) aren't an effective use of your time.

If you want help designing a program that finally works, let me know.
